The existing socio-economic system is a system-of-systems complexity challenge. Most of the systems that are operating within this complex environment are invisible to see as ‘whole systems’.
For example, how does the whole system of ‘managing diabetes type II in South Australia’ work? Is it efficient and effective? Is it optimised to make best use of resources? How big is it? Is it getting more efficient…more effective? Is human suffering reducing? How does it compare with the system in Denmark? Or New Zealand? Or Florida? How much does it cost? What is the environmental impact of this system as it scales to the global level? Are the materials we use in this system sustainable? Is there equity and inclusive access to diagnosis and appropriate treatments for all members of our community?
